A South African lawyer turned real estate professional, Dale found Bitcoin in 2020 and never looked back. Initially working in crypto media, he quickly became disillusioned by the nihilism, opportunism, and sheer absurdity of the space. This culminated in the realization that much of what passes for innovation in crypto is simply a casino rigged for insiders. The antidote? Bitcoin. His early Bitcoin evangelism evolved into something more tangible and direct: Bitcoin Mentor—a consultancy helping people take genuine self-custody of their wealth, one seed phrase at a time.
Launching his podcast The Why Bitcoin Show in 2023, Dale leaned into his gift for conversation and his deep personal conviction that Bitcoin is not just an investment but a moral imperative. Through the show and his consulting work, he advocates self-sovereignty, focusing especially on the permissionless, censorship-resistant nature of Bitcoin. To Dale, real Bitcoin ownership means multisig cold storage, geographically distributed keys, and robust inheritance planning. He cautions that the biggest threat isn’t state attack vectors—it’s human error, overcomplication, and carelessness. Above all, he emphasizes incremental progress: crawl before you walk, walk before you multisig.
As a public-facing Bitcoiner, Dale openly wrestles with the privacy trade-offs of advocacy. He speaks candidly about threats—digital and physical—faced by anyone associated with Bitcoin wealth, especially as adoption scales and personal security risks grow. Yet he maintains that the responsibility to teach, lead, and speak truthfully about Bitcoin outweighs the risk, especially in a world where centralized control over money, speech, and property is tightening.
Now a new father, Dale finds renewed purpose in building a future where his daughter won’t need permission to save, spend, or leave. That’s what drives his commitment to Bitcoin as capital with wings. His story is an honest portrait of someone who went from writing about blockchain vaporware to guiding others in one of the most meaningful financial transformations of our time.
