Ten days ago I sent an SMS to my warm network offering a free AI Business Assessment. Five business owners said yes. By Friday, I’d run five 20-minute calls, delivered five custom AI roadmaps, and identified between $1,560 and $17,400 of monthly value waiting to be unlocked.
Lewis, a construction and landscaping director in Melbourne, replied:Â “What once felt overwhelming now feels exciting.”
This episode is the story of those 10 days — the SMS that started it, the five calls, the numbers, and the offer that’s now live at jakewoodhouse.io/ai-assessment

The gap isn’t access. It’s knowing where to start.
0:00:00
all right hey everyone hello and welcome back to the podcast today well you’ll have to wait
0:00:10
and see what comes from it but it’s going to be a 20-25 minute long conversation just with myself
0:00:15
as i present the progress from the last couple of weeks and to say the least and as i posted on
0:00:20
NOSTA recently when things move they can move really really fast so i hope you enjoy this if
0:00:27
you’re interested in AI and how it’s affecting small businesses, where you’re at, well, this could
0:00:33
well be the episode for you. And I’m going to share with you a presentation that I’ve made.
0:00:38
And so I hope you find this valuable. All right, so
0:00:44
what I learned assessing five Australian businesses for AI in 10 days. This is a solo episode.
0:00:54
This includes real businesses, real numbers and no fluff.
0:01:01
What once felt overwhelming now feels exciting.
0:01:06
Lewis, director of a construction and landscaping business, Melbourne, just a day or so ago after receiving the AI roadmap or AI assessment that I have given to him.
0:01:18
I’ll repeat that. What once felt overwhelming now feels exciting.
0:01:22
boom it is exactly the kind of feedback that I thought would be possible but required a load of
0:01:29
work a lot of testing and some trial and error so let me explain why have I just done what I’ve done
0:01:38
over the last 10 days well let me tee it up if you listen to the previous podcast episode I was
0:01:43
talking about a mentoring program called the durable man and it was essentially a productized
0:01:49
version of all of the major mistakes that I’ve made in my life and spun around to help people
0:01:55
navigate all sorts of different decisions. Now, it’s not that that was a bad idea, but the clarity
0:02:01
that I received after posting for 15 or 17 days daily on Instagram was that was definitely not
0:02:08
something that I wanted to do or was willing to do. And my wife was absolutely with me on that as
0:02:13
well. If anything, it was her dropping breadcrumbs going, come on, Jake, are you sure this is the
0:02:18
right direction. And she was talking a lot about AI, like, how’s this going to impact our lives?
0:02:22
What can we, what can we do? How can we get involved? And I, I’ll drop all these links in
0:02:28
the show notes as I, as I go through this. But essentially, I was thinking, is this definitely
0:02:36
the right direction? I’m not sure. What else can I test and try to lean into as again, if you’ve
0:02:42
listened to this podcast in the past, I am very interested in humanistic capital and intellectual
0:02:48
capital that drive financial returns. And one of the big things I’ve been leaning into is listening
0:02:53
to my wife, using her sense and intuition as a way of seeing around corners, avoiding mistakes,
0:03:00
but also seeing opportunities. It’s like, come on, Jake, look at this, look at this. And she’s
0:03:03
literally leading me towards it. I’m like, okay. And this is the upshot of that once I finish this
0:03:08
episode. But where’s this all going? So Durable Man, I decided to pause for the time being in
0:03:15
favor of looking much more closely like what what ai business opportunities are out there
0:03:20
and uh the starting point was an instagram reel just one of those pointless scrolling moments and
0:03:28
i’ll put the link in the show notes and this guy’s interviewed by someone on the street
0:03:32
microphone chucked in his face you know how would you build a big business he’s like well i’m
0:03:36
actually out i’ve exited i’m done i wouldn’t do it but if i did i would be looking at the big
0:03:41
consulting websites and I will be looking at the market disruption reports that they create
0:03:46
and figuring out how I could as a small entrepreneur use those to build something of value.
0:03:51
And I’m like, great point. So I hop online and there it is right in front of me, Deloitte,
0:03:57
a November 2025 report talking about the AI adoption in Australia for small businesses
0:04:03
and some huge high level stats. And I’ve got it here on the slide. So one in three businesses
0:04:08
don’t know where to start with AI.
0:04:10
And the gap, therefore, isn’t necessarily access
0:04:13
because everyone can access it.
0:04:15
It’s clarity.
0:04:16
It’s like, how do you even do that?
0:04:18
And it’s obvious in some ways,
0:04:19
I see so much content and adverts
0:04:24
focused on AI implementation.
0:04:26
But it’s like, what’s the step before that?
0:04:28
It’s like, well, what’s the business?
0:04:30
Where are the bottlenecks?
0:04:31
Where are the pain points?
0:04:32
Where do you waste time?
0:04:34
What’s causing you frustration?
0:04:36
One of my favorite questions from the week
0:04:37
because I’ve gone through the process of developing a product,
0:04:41
is if you had a magic wand and you were to wave it right now,
0:04:44
what is the one thing that you would love to never have to do again?
0:04:48
It’s like testing the same problem from different angles with similar questions.
0:04:52
And I love this stuff.
0:04:53
I’ve done it many, many years now doing kind of startup-focused customer discovery.
0:04:57
It’s like, oh, my God.
0:04:58
And then I can build the product myself, as I’ll explain.
0:05:01
So Instagram Reel, that’s a good angle.
0:05:03
Let me see what consulting stuff’s out there.
0:05:05
Boom, there’s the Deloitte Report.
0:05:07
a thousand people in their research.
0:05:09
It’s like, I can’t necessarily go and do
0:05:10
a thousand person research piece tomorrow,
0:05:14
but I can use this.
0:05:15
Interesting.
0:05:16
And it’s like, okay, so if people are struggling
0:05:18
to know where to even start with AI,
0:05:20
how do I validate that this is a problem?
0:05:23
And that was the next step, right?
0:05:26
So, okay, let’s go and see what we can do about this.
0:05:27
I have my friend Belly over last Saturday,
0:05:29
a week ago today, shout out to Belly,
0:05:31
if he ever watches this.
0:05:32
And Loz and he and I were really just thinking like,
0:05:34
how’s AI going to change things?
0:05:36
what opportunities are out there. We were teaching him about some of the progress we’ve made. And it’s
0:05:39
kind of cool to think a week later that I’ve been able to achieve this. Another piece of this puzzle
0:05:44
is, of course, I’m always looking to learn myself. A critical piece of intellectual capital is always
0:05:51
hunting for the information that’s for you right now. And I was on the way to an appointment Monday
0:05:56
morning in the car, chucked on a random podcast episode from a new podcast I’ve been listening to
0:06:03
that was focused on AI and small business.
0:06:05
And boom, there it was.
0:06:07
This guy just running through how he built an assessment tool
0:06:10
for small businesses and was essentially open sourcing it
0:06:13
on this podcast based in the States
0:06:15
and explained what his route to market was,
0:06:18
created a meetup, chatted to small business owners
0:06:20
and started creating a set of questions that he’d asked them
0:06:24
to find out where the biggest bottlenecks were
0:06:26
and how he could then apply AI to those things.
0:06:29
I’m like, whoa, as if that just popped out of somewhere.
0:06:32
and it’s this energetics at play right i’m like okay cool all you have to do is kind of recreate
0:06:37
what they’ve done so they’ve proved that it works in the us can you bring it to australia
0:06:40
does it work here we’ve got a delight report that says that uh aussie businesses are struggling to
0:06:46
adopt ai you’ve now got this pain point that’s been proven with a solution what what happens here
0:06:52
so i put together an sms message and it’s super simple i’m just going to read it to you quickly
0:06:58
because I think you’ll be quite surprised by how simple it is.
0:07:01
Hi, how are you?
0:07:03
I’m launching something new
0:07:04
and want to test it on people I trust first.
0:07:06
It a free AI business assessment You get a personalized report showing exactly where your business should start with AI and which tools will move the needle It takes 20 minutes of your time normally a thousand bucks free for my first few Let me know if that of interest Thanks Jake
0:07:21
And I sent that out to, I don’t know, 20, 25 friends. And it was extraordinary. I just got
0:07:29
replies. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Now, some of them weren’t necessarily from, I’ve just moved
0:07:35
slides. So this is Monday morning, right? The SMS experiment. Some of them were like, no, AI scares
0:07:41
me. I’m not interested in it. Other people like my business is too small, or we’re too low tech,
0:07:46
or whatever, like a taxi business or a health practitioner. And then I got some which is
0:07:50
basically just not the ideal customer profile. So my friend Nick, who runs a removals business,
0:07:55
has helped me out a number of times. Yes, he has a problem that if he doesn’t reply to things in
0:08:00
five minutes, he loses the business to someone else. This is someone very active on air tasker.
0:08:05
but five people came back yeah sure keen love to do it let me know how you’re like whoa that’s
0:08:12
interesting feedback immediately you’re getting 30 40 50 reply rate of which 25 said yeah book
0:08:18
something so calendly link goes through and suddenly by by tuesday it’s like oh okay what
0:08:24
have we got here well we’ve got four bookings in and so over tuesday and thursday i recorded calls
0:08:31
they were they were booked in for 20 minutes and I went through a very standard customer
0:08:37
discovery process that I’ve done many times before for other types of products and it starts
0:08:42
with teach me a bit about your business and then it was you know Monday morning what do you do on
0:08:48
a Monday through to Friday 5 p.m and they take me through their week now incidentally anyone
0:08:53
listening to this podcast now looking for more details on the offer that I have out there
0:08:57
this is the process you will go through on the phone with me which is essentially mapping out
0:09:01
how you spend your time and what this is highlighting as is often the case and what
0:09:07
I come back to regularly as a big big as a big bitcoin investor is bitcoin is the most scarce
0:09:13
thing you can possibly own as an asset from a financial capital perspective but your time is
0:09:19
your scarcest asset and that’s much more of a humanistic or intellectual capital bucket that
0:09:25
people don’t really think enough about because your time is worth something to someone else.
0:09:29
Now, from a business owner perspective, they get that, but do they really think about it clearly
0:09:34
enough? And that’s what came through. It’s like, oh my gosh, I’m wasting all this time.
0:09:38
So hosted the calls and learned loads. Shout out to the five that joined my trial. Couldn’t
0:09:47
appreciate you more. And what I’ve learned through this process is there’s 100% an opportunity here
0:09:52
that I can add huge value to people.
0:09:55
Now, the report process, hang on, have I skipped a slide there?
0:10:00
No.
0:10:02
Yeah, okay.
0:10:02
So this was the interesting thing.
0:10:05
So around the cost of people’s time,
0:10:09
for example, Pete is an accountant.
0:10:11
He can charge 450 bucks an hour for his time.
0:10:15
So any time that he’s not billing that kind of rate is time lost.
0:10:19
And his AI assessment showed him on an upper range, he was leaving on the table $17,500 a month. Whoa. Now, the incredible thing about the ROI on that is anyone in the consulting space, professional services, lawyers, they charge extremely healthy rates for their time per hour.
0:10:40
But as soon as they get bogged down in systems and email and any kind of administrative tasks, they’re not charging that kind of money.
0:10:49
And that’s what this assessment highlights.
0:10:51
And on the lower end, so this was the smallest ROI in month one, if you were to implement what I suggest from creating the report, was $1,560, which was for Matt with a garden and lawn maintenance business.
0:11:06
And as I’ll explain later, the assessment is charged at $999 for now.
0:11:12
I have validation around that number from the guys that came through this trial this week,
0:11:18
where at least I have replies from both Lewis and Pete at this stage saying I’d happily pay a grand,
0:11:24
$1,500 for that.
0:11:26
Immediately, I’ve got actionable insights that I can take myself.
0:11:29
And as someone that’s into self-sovereignty, again, as a big Bitcoin investor and advocate
0:11:35
and equally into NOSTA, it’s like being in control of yourself, investing in your own intellectual
0:11:41
capital is the best ROI. Because what I’m essentially showing these business owners is,
0:11:46
look, these are the tools you can apply tomorrow with off the shelf stuff that’s literally just
0:11:50
like refining a prompt, and you’ve just saved yourself a bunch of time. And that’s worth,
0:11:54
in the case of Pete, potentially 17,000 bucks a month. Wow. So what is the system that I take
0:12:01
people through and if you were to to take me up on this offer what would you do so um first of all
0:12:07
you’ve got to find my website find the ai assessment page i’ll share it in the show notes and i’ll also
0:12:13
be promoting that that specific web page and lots of content over the coming weeks and you book a
0:12:19
time um at this stage i’m opening up the calendar for lunch times and evenings which i think is the
0:12:25
most useful time for a small business owner to have a spare moment to think about this stuff
0:12:29
because of course you’re running businesses and you’re super busy.
0:12:32
So it would be a 20-minute Zoom call.
0:12:34
Maybe it will creep into 30 minutes if we’re having a good conversation.
0:12:38
I then take the information from that.
0:12:41
Specifically, it’s recorded, so I have the transcript.
0:12:44
Now that transcript, I have developed a bespoke prompt to share with Claude,
0:12:49
and Claude then helps me create the assessment.
0:12:52
I take that assessment and I put it into an app called Gamma,
0:12:55
and that helps to organize it in a visually appealing way.
0:12:59
And I then deliver that via email within 48 hours as a PDF.
0:13:03
It is bespoke to that person’s specific scenario.
0:13:07
It’s full of details on how they can actually implement some of the suggestions.
0:13:14
And so it’s totally actionable, which I love about it.
0:13:16
It’s like, okay, you’re the business owner.
0:13:18
The buck stops with you.
0:13:20
Here’s an assessment that shows you really, really simple.
0:13:23
And generally, I’ve gone with four low-hanging fruit options for the business owner to take
0:13:28
today that they can implement themselves. And then there is a second tier with three options,
0:13:35
which are more long term projects. So this first phase is the AI assessment. It’s like,
0:13:40
who are you? Where are you at? What do you do? What are your problems? Okay, cool. These are some
0:13:45
of the high level solutions that should help. Now, there’ll be a second opportunity to engage
0:13:50
my services on a more ongoing basis, bespoke to that scenario. For example, Lewis is a landscaping
0:13:57
business was talking to me about some of the struggles he has with figuring out the best way
0:14:02
to onboard new customers at the same time as showing them mock-ups of like for example their
0:14:09
new garden that they might be creating it’s like here’s some inspiration for what you might get if
0:14:13
you were to work with us now to provide that inspiration he using his designers which are high value time but you don necessarily get immediate return in terms of revenue from those different mockups So it like okay could we perhaps use AI to take all of the work that we
0:14:29
done in the past, have a database or idea bank of inspiration to then share bespoke to the new
0:14:37
customer scenario. Now that would be a more custom AI build is something that I could help do,
0:14:42
but requires more resources and more time.
0:14:46
Much more specifically, it’s like,
0:14:48
are you using a note-taking app for Zoom calls,
0:14:50
which you can then have as an action task list
0:14:52
for every time you speak with one of your managers?
0:14:54
And that was the low-hanging fruit.
0:14:56
You’re like, okay, cool.
0:14:58
So there’s lots of stuff that can be recommended
0:15:01
to business owners that’s incredibly obvious.
0:15:04
It’s sitting right there.
0:15:05
But the second set of eyes is the helpful piece
0:15:07
because you’re obviously busy, tied up,
0:15:10
doing all sorts of stuff to keep your business going.
0:15:12
so if you wanted this today I am offering it at 999 Australian dollars and it comes with a guarantee
0:15:20
and that guarantee is that the report will pay for itself within month one with the recommendations
0:15:27
that I make and this is one of the extraordinary things that I learned this week it’s like oh my
0:15:31
gosh we waste so much time now that fact is only true because of this next wave of technology that’s
0:15:40
at our fingertips, but it’s misunderstood, which is the AI wave. And it’s essentially automation,
0:15:46
automation of time spent at a laptop where you previously you’re clicking. Like another example,
0:15:51
I’ll give you is Matt with the gardening business. Sometimes he has two guys on site,
0:15:56
sometimes he has three guys on site. Now he has to double check every single invoice manually,
0:16:00
and then upgrade from a 2x to a 3x on the labor metric, depending on what was actually done at the
0:16:07
time. Now a solution to that would be some kind of Zapier integration where you can automate the
0:16:14
labor metric. That requires a little longer than just like the first week, but the ROI of time he
0:16:20
gets back from a solution like that is huge. And so what I noticed in five assessments only was like,
0:16:27
hang on a second, every single one of these business owners gets the ROI of the cost of this
0:16:32
report in the first month, that’s amazing. It’s absolutely amazing. And so I’d love other people
0:16:38
to have that opportunity. You can head to my website, I’ve listed it here, jwoodhouse.io
0:16:43
forward slash AI dash assessment. I’ll drop the link in the show notes as well. And the offer is
0:16:50
live. So this podcast going out now, I’m going to start a proper content program. And this is
0:16:56
essentially the updated direction that I’m going to take the podcast in over the coming months. And
0:17:01
I’m really excited about it because it’s a, how do you say this?
0:17:07
It’s a representation of the last few months and how far I’ve had to evolve to come up with something that’s actually compelling.
0:17:14
And the constraints on my own life being I’m a homeschooling parent.
0:17:17
I have an asset base that is healthy in terms of a cash runway.
0:17:22
My time constraint is making sure that I give the kids my time to the extent that I want to.
0:17:27
but equally the the net wealth stat that i had it got chopped in half with the recent recent bitcoin
0:17:34
downturn and that was like whoa what the hell just happened and i’ve spoken about that’s previously in
0:17:39
in other content uh check out daniel prince’s podcast once bitten if you want a more accurate
0:17:45
description of what i was up to but point being is i wanted to create a yield on my time so i wanted
0:17:51
to create value for other people and what i’ve just presented through to you i believe is a brilliant
0:17:56
manifestation of that. It’s like, you spend 20 minutes with me on a call, you get an immediate
0:18:02
ROI for your business in terms of becoming more efficient with the opportunity to get a better
0:18:07
return on your time. How can you say no to that? Plus, I’m guaranteeing a full refund if the report
0:18:14
doesn’t show you how you can take immediate action that actually just pays for the cost of the report.
0:18:19
And I’m willing to stand behind that. Like I’m not looking for tire kickers, I’m looking for people
0:18:23
that you’re working in your business bloody hard, right?
0:18:25
You’ve got time as a major choke point.
0:18:28
Maybe you’ve got family commitments.
0:18:30
Maybe you’ve got another business you’re running.
0:18:32
I don’t know, but our time is our scarcest asset.
0:18:35
And if you go through this process with me,
0:18:37
I can get more of your time back.
0:18:39
Now, some of the things that people were talking about
0:18:40
doing with their time in terms of the last week,
0:18:43
it’s marketing.
0:18:45
Like Paul, he runs a grocery business
0:18:48
and he’s tied up with this inventory problem
0:18:49
where he’s got 300 suppliers.
0:18:51
they’re bringing product into his store they’re coming with different terms in terms of payment
0:18:56
like do they have to pay up front do they pay once they’ve sold the product they’ve got different
0:19:00
volumes he’s also got a staff roster he’s also got a cafe like whoa he is really stretched for time
0:19:06
but if he did have some extra time which i believe the assessment shows him he could
0:19:11
he would spend it on marketing his business how interesting or going back to pete the accountant
0:19:17
if he didn’t have so much of his time wrapped up how it is now he would like to be a much more
0:19:23
proactive financial advisor so he would be going out and he’d be checking in with his customers
0:19:27
much more regularly he’d be thinking about things for them on their behalf and i’m like god that
0:19:33
would be cool as a financial service it’s like okay you have an accountant that’s sitting there
0:19:37
and not only are they helping you tick all the boxes that’s required from a tax efficiency
0:19:41
perspective and a compliance perspective and all the other things that accountants are good for
0:19:44
they’re actually starting to think on your behalf like wow i’ve just helped someone become more
0:19:50
efficient and add more value in their world and that’s what makes me so excited about this
0:19:55
so my call to action for you guys who’ve got this far in the podcast episode thank you very much
0:20:02
if you run an australian business and you’d like clarity on where ai could be most helpful for you
0:20:09
and equally how to potentially implement it further down the line with larger scale projects
0:20:13
the links in the show notes get in touch I’d love to book a call I’d love to help you through
0:20:18
this process and equally if you’re not a small business owner however you’re you know close to
0:20:25
the technology market or whatever the case might be you’re listening to this podcast which is
0:20:28
awesome if you know someone who might benefit from this please share it with them I’d really
0:20:32
really appreciate that because I think it gives huge value to all of us including myself and people
0:20:38
buying their time back. How cool is that? So I’ll leave you with this. And this is kind of cool.
0:20:45
It’s the gap. How do I say this in a succinct way? Well, I’ve done it on the slide here.
0:20:51
The gap isn’t access. It’s knowing where to start. And that’s been hammered home by not just
0:20:58
the Deloitte report that I came across, not just the podcast episode that I listened to,
0:21:03
but the on the ground research that I did over the last five days where it’s like yes there’s
0:21:09
immediate demand people were like getting straight back to me there’s a bunch of people that said I’ll
0:21:12
do the call never booked it in there’s a bunch of people who came back to me saying no initially but
0:21:16
then they wanted to it’s like sorry we’re booked up the first five they’re gone the free access is
0:21:20
finished now and I’ve got great validation around what the price should be and I’m going to run with
0:21:26
that so it it just it a really fun process to have been through I very excited and like my note said that I referenced at the start on Nost it like when things move they can move really fast And so that my intention here I hoping that you found this valuable I always open to feedback from everyone
0:21:42
whether that’s positive or negative, reach out hi at jakewoodhouse.io on email. And I’ll be
0:21:48
firing this out across multiple different content platforms. So you can find me on those.
0:21:54
I guess I’ll leave you with a final thought, which is like, you know, what is AI and what can we do
0:21:58
with it and to me it’s like it’s just a tool right and the the carving knife i’ve got downstairs i
0:22:07
could i could go and kill someone with that if i wanted or i can you know cut some food and cook a
0:22:12
beautiful dinner for my family a mobile phone could be used to you know some horrible pedophile
0:22:19
could be grooming a small kid or you could be you know calling a close family member that’s had a
0:22:24
difficult time recently. The user is in charge of the tool. So in my view, the key is to make sure
0:22:32
that you’re leveraging this tool as best as possible. And what seems to be very, very clear
0:22:39
is this next wave, we’re calling it AI, but it’s really just, it’s a technology wave. And it allows
0:22:46
us to become more efficient with the technology stack we already have. And so even just this idea
0:22:52
that like oh my god and i was playing with claude recently getting it to do tasks in my chrome which
0:22:58
is a still a beta product for the for the ai business claude and the product cord but it’s like
0:23:04
a specific use case being i’ve produced podcasts for many years and um the the podcast production
0:23:12
process is like you know find the guests that you like reach out to them have a conversation say can
0:23:17
we book a call book in a call if they turn up because often things get in the way and they
0:23:22
reschedule, you record for 60 minutes, you take the recording, then you’ve got to download it
0:23:27
somewhere, then you’ve got to put in a different editing app, then you’ve got to, you know,
0:23:30
chop out the ums and the rs, then you’ve got to publish it and schedule it across a bunch of
0:23:34
different platforms. Like, whoa, this is a really tricky process. It’s a lot of laptop time to
0:23:39
actually make it happen. I haven’t built this yet. And I think I will just as a use case,
0:23:43
as I show how I go through this process of working with AI, but I could now get Claude’s skill
0:23:49
to do that for me, providing I build the correct prompts.
0:23:53
And that’s time, potentially an hour on the sofa,
0:23:56
maybe more that I’m getting back on a Monday night
0:23:58
if I was still producing long form guest podcasts.
0:24:02
And that reminds me actually of an interesting experience
0:24:04
I had recently, which I’ll share,
0:24:06
which is in between reading that Deloitte consulting report
0:24:09
and the process of finishing up with the durable man,
0:24:15
another idea that I was trying from an AI perspective
0:24:17
was precisely that.
0:24:18
It’s like the efficiency of content production has just been compressed.
0:24:23
And there’s now tools like Higgsfield.ai where I was basically looking at if I don’t have to find a guest, record a call, do all the production process, then publish it with then long form and then short form clips.
0:24:39
What does that look like with AI today?
0:24:41
Well, actually, you can completely design a customer avatar.
0:24:47
right and you can then create short form scripts 20-25 seconds long with voices that you get from
0:24:55
a business like 11 labs and you could create instagram reels using then higgs field ai where
0:25:01
you have a profile picture of the specific person you’re trying to go after that higgs field generates
0:25:06
as your thumbnail and then you have a voiceover matching all the text that you write
0:25:11
and claude writes all the transcripts as well depending on what you want it to say or what
0:25:15
problem point you’re marketing to and i guess the interesting part was i came i had a whole
0:25:22
strategy it’s like right i gave it a name it was called rover and i was looking for geographically
0:25:27
constrained businesses that had high customer lifetime values that knew that instagram was
0:25:33
valuable but just were doing not very well with it and it came up with the idea of well i came up
0:25:38
with the idea using claude of focusing on skin clinics you know you type into google maps there’s
0:25:43
10s ClinClinics on the local high streets. Okay, are they all on Instagram? No. Are all the ladies
0:25:48
that use those clinics on Instagram? Yes. If they’re not on Instagram, why are they not on there?
0:25:53
And they kind of know at the back of their heads, the owners of those businesses that they should be,
0:25:57
or they tried and you can find their Instagram profile from the last post was two months ago,
0:26:00
because it’s exhausting, right, creating all the content. So it’s like, hang on a second,
0:26:05
what if you don’t have to ever do long form content again, and you just use an entirely AI
0:26:09
driven process to create short form reels. Anyway, you can go and have a look. It’s called
0:26:13
at Rover clinics on Instagram. It failed because I suddenly realized that the amount of AI driven
0:26:21
slop that was going to be online very soon because I was creating short form movies that were
0:26:27
Hollywood style trailers for skin clinic owners. And I was trying to get into the head of a skin
0:26:34
clinic owner that knew that they were failing at Instagram with the content on Instagram.
0:26:39
I love the concept, but actually what it taught me, I think, is that the most valuable content in the years to come is going to be human-centric, emotional, heart-driven, real stories.
0:26:52
And hence, I’m going to continue creating a podcast.
0:26:55
And in this case, it’s a podcast about using AI tools.
0:27:00
So Rover was like a kind of another attempt, like how can I use AI?
0:27:03
Well, can I use AI to completely remove me from the content production process?
0:27:07
And the answer was not quite.
0:27:10
I still need to be part of it
0:27:11
because I believe that that’s the best way
0:27:13
to actually deliver value to people.
0:27:15
We’re going to start to like glaze over, right?
0:27:18
It just be like AI video, AI video, AI.
0:27:21
Do you know what I mean?
0:27:22
It just won’t stop the scroll.
0:27:24
Whereas a real story from a real person,
0:27:26
I think is crucial.
0:27:27
But could I compress the production time on the backend
0:27:31
and take half the amount of time it used to take
0:27:33
to create a long form podcast?
0:27:34
Yes.
0:27:35
And that’s something that I will do.
0:27:37
Anyway, I’ve started a rant at the very end of this episode.
0:27:41
What a journey, right?
0:27:42
What a time to be alive.
0:27:43
I’m incredibly fortunate to have the support of my wife,
0:27:46
to have the decisions that I’ve made in the past win.
0:27:50
Oh my God, brilliant.
0:27:52
Lose, well, you learn, right?
0:27:54
So the harvesting process of the last four or five months
0:27:57
has just been extraordinary in terms of intellectual capital.
0:28:00
It’s like what happens when the driving force
0:28:03
of your wealth strategy is actually very volatile
0:28:05
to the upside and downside and it chops in half and you’ve had lifestyle creep and your life’s
0:28:11
got more expensive and you weren’t working for someone else and you didn’t have any interest in
0:28:15
ever giving your time to someone else ever again whoa well in some ways this is the manifestation
0:28:21
of that so really appreciate you joining me today for the podcast if you have anyone who’s a small
0:28:28
business owner is interested in how they might apply ai to their business just get in touch or
0:28:33
if you’re a small business owner also reach out because I’d really like to help thanks so much
0:28:37
for your time I hope you enjoyed the episode
